This page provides information about the valid indicative distribution map for the ecosystem functional group M1.3 Photic coral reefs. For older or alternative maps, see here.

Methods

Here is the methods summary for Map code and version: M1.3.web.orig v1.0.

Indicative maps of Photic coral reefs were obtained from Institute for Marine Remote Sensing et al. (2011). Occurrences were converted to 30 arc second spatial resolution.

Datasets

Corals500m (IMaRS/USF 2011):

Source of validated distribution records. Resolution: <1km2, static. Accuracy evaluation: qualitative (experts judgement).

Processing

Processing steps used in this map are: Selection :: Buffering.

Map evaluation

This map is considered to be a Medium quality map based on the following characteristics:

Concept alignment is Direct,specific.

Ground observations are yes.

The accuracy evaluation Qualitative expert assessment, documented, qualitative.
